Digital CNC Operations Pathway (with Awareness)
Master the basics of computer-aided machining with hands-on training in Mastercam, learning to create tool paths, program milling machines, and explore advanced automation strategies in just four days.
Description
CCAT's Digital CNC Operations training pathway includes the following courses over four days offered in Mastercam, Solidworks CAM, or Siemens NX CAM.
- Tuesday – Thursday:
- Intro to CAM Mill - 2D
- Friday:
- Digital Thread Concepts and Value Proposition & Next Gen TDPs and MBD Workflows
- CAM Automation using MBD
Learning Objectives
- Show proficiency with the CAM workflow for milling.
- Create simple part geometries in CAM.
- Program and execute facing operations.
- Program and execute contouring operations.
- Program and execute drilling operations.
- Demonstrate foundational skills essential for programming in a job shop environment.
- Gain practical hands-on experience with a 3-axis milling machine, including transferring programs, loading raw materials, validating, and executing operations.
- Describe automated CAM programming using feature and tolerance-based machining strategies and model-based definition workflows.
Target Audience
The Digital CNC Operations Pathway is designed for machinists, technicians, apprentices, and manufacturing professionals who want to strengthen their skills in CNC programming, setup, and operation using advanced CAM tools. It’s ideal for individuals who are new to CNC machining as well as those seeking to modernize their workflows by integrating Model-Based Definition (MBD) and automated toolpath generation.
