Description
Additive Manufacturing Awareness & Application introduces participants to the core principles, process families, applications, and decision factors associated with additive manufacturing. The class provides a practical overview of how layer-based manufacturing works, how major AM technologies differ by material form and energy source, and how AM compares to conventional manufacturing in areas such as cost, lead time, scalability, and production readiness.
Participants will explore common AM use cases, including prototyping, tooling, fixtures, repair, and end-use production, while also examining the technical and operational limitations that influence successful implementation. By the end of the class, participants will be able to assess whether a component is a viable AM candidate based on design intent, material requirements, production volume, cost drivers, and application needs.
